Will a PC Health Check really make any difference to my PC or laptop?
The simple answer is yes. The extent to how much noticeable difference is
experienced varies from case to case, but the most frequently experienced
outcome is that PC runs noticeably faster.
●
My PC has been acting peculiarly and I'm not sure if I need a PC Health Check or if I have a Virus I need removing. What should I do?
Sometimes it is difficult to establish if a computer
is suffering from slowdown and in need of a Health Check or if it is
displaying the symptoms of a Virus. If you are unsure then check against our
list of common Virus symptoms and see if your computer is displaying any of
the common signs of a Virus.
Common signs of a computer virus:
- Being redirected from one website to a different one
- Random "pop-ups" informing the user that they are infected and
encouraging them to pay for hoax software.
- Websites and web browsing producing more "pop ups" and adverts than
usual.
- Computer slowdown - A noticeable computer speed decrease over time,
potentially accompanied with a web browsing speed decrease.
- Anti-Virus software acting erratically.
If you have noticed any of the above then it is likely that any
computer slowdown may also be as a result of a virus. If you are
still unsure as to whether you require Virus Removal or a PC Health
Check then feel free to call Vella Technology and talk us through
the symptoms of your PC and we can advise you.

What happens if while performing a PC Health Check on my PC you find a Virus/Spyware? Will you get rid of it?
Getting rid of a virus can be a lengthy and
difficult process on its own and this is why it is usually offered as a
separate £35 service. However, we recognise that a PC could never be called
healthy if it has malicious Virus/Adware/Spyware installed on it, causing
potential damage. If our technician finds malicious software on your PC he
will inform you of it and offer to remove it for an additional £25. This
essentially means getting an additional £35 service for the reduced price of
£25.
●
Why does someone who ordered a PC Health Check get the option of Virus Removal (should one be found) for a reduced rate of £25?
Some Viruses are more obvious to a user than others
but all are malicious and unwelcome. When a customer rings us for a Virus
Removal we charge a set £35 if we are able to remove the virus. Part of this
fee contributes towards travelling costs and travelling time. We view it as
unfair to charge a customer who is paying £35 for a PC Health Check an
additional £35 for virus removal when a technician is already with them and
has already discovered the threat.
●
Am I likely to lose any documents and settings when you perform a PC Health Check?
No, a PC Health Check does not affect your files or
personal settings. We do, however always recommend making a back up of
anything valuable when possible as we accept no liability for any damaged or
corrupted data.
●
Do you charge a call out fee?
As long as you are within our service area, then no
we don't charge a callout fee. Currently our area covers a 30 mile radius of
Colchester.
●
I'm outside your service area but still wish to use your services. Can you make an exception for me?
We do go outside of our normal area from time to
time, but because of fuel costs we are forced to charge a small call out fee for
this. Just contact us with your location and we'll let you know how much
extra it will be.
●
Can you come out to see me in the evenings or at weekends?
We can! Vella Technology understands that people
work all times of the day so we are pretty flexible with our working hours.
We can come out to your house anytime between 9am to 9pm 7 days a week, but
even if this is not convenient for you then simply ask! We go out of our way
to please our customers and we'll usually be more than happy to visit at a
time that's best for you.
It should be noted however that our normal office hours are 9am to 6pm
Monday to Friday, which means we would usually only take phone calls during
this time. We do sometimes work late or at weekends so you could
always try your luck at other times. If we aren't around, there is an answer
phone service which will we respond to as quickly as possible, or
alternatively you could email us at
email@vellatech.com.
